Nanaimo adventures....part two & three...
Hallo all you bloggers out there waiting patiently for me to FINALLY update. Well today is the day......yippppee !!!
So what is new with me.......hmmmmm....were to begin....... For the last 2 weekends I have been sailing the open waters on the BC Ferries to Nanaimo to visit Don.....exciting....yes, yes.....very.......well the ferry ride that is !!! hahaahaa.....kiddin' Don the time I spend with you is ALWAYS exciting.
Okay so.....the Nanaimo adventure continues..... Not last weekend but the weekend before Don and I set out in search of a giant crack in the Mountain that came about by an Earthquake several years ago...not exactly sure how many. It is called ....some Ridge place.....can't remember (Todd I am sure you will be schooling me later !!!) Also in this area are some carving of weird alien like creatures and space ships in the rocks, that were apparently done many, many moons ago as well...I have no idea who or what did them. So armed with our camera we headed out in search of these Nanaimo phenomenon's, of course we have no map and we are relying of the memory of Don.......hehehe.....that is just all around crazy since Don tends to have short & long term memory loss !!! Needless to say...we wondered and wondered and wondered.....we saw some interesting things, lots of clearings that could indeed accommodate a spaceship or 2... we were attacked by a hummingbird which made the hike even more interesting.....but NO carvings or cracks. (Okay Finnerty, Gee & Smith families you can stop laughing at "cracks" now.......aaaah...so predictable !!)
************************************************************
And now for something completely different........hehehe..... As I was just about finished this post my network server went down and kicked me out !! I cried a bit. It just so happened right at the same time Don came online...hmmmm.....very suspicious like. He suggested that he could try to recover it but we would have to share the network...blah...blah...blah....anywho we got it set up. This meant that he had full control of my computer while he attempted to get back what I lost. Man that was a weird feeling......I learned something.....I don't like to not have control. I felt violated !!! Then as Don pointed out....if I felt violated...imagine how my computer felt ..hehehe !! The show must go on......so now I try to rely on my memory as to what I HAD posted before I was rudely kick off....... ************************************************************
.......uuummmm.....were was I........ oh ya.... so we were wondering pretty much aimlessly around. It was getting late so we had to leave cause we had to go to Gary & Lexie's place (Don's brother and soon to be sister-in-law) then head to Drunken Duncan.....as the Nanaimoites call it .....for tux fittings, Gary & Lexie are getting married this summer.
Fittings were had.....visiting of there friend was had....and a great dinner was also had....then back to Nanaimo we went.
Sunday...determined to find these carvings and cracks .....we ventured out once again. This time Don studied the map to make sure we had the right area. Off we went. We headed back to almost the same spot we were at the day before but this time we followed the map that Don had drawn out from the website. Success !! We came across a carving in the rock......jackpot !!! it was the alien like creature....YAY !!! A few photos were taken and we headed of in search of more......nope no more were to be found. So we followed the map to now try and find the giant cracks in the mountain. We hiked through the woods.....for quite awhile.......then.....sucess once again !!! We found the giant cracks....aaaaa...well I should really say ..crack. There was really just the one. It was big and pretty long and deep........hehehe. More photos were taken...then it was time to head out....my cruise awaited.
Now onto last weekend.......... I once again boarded back on one of BC's finest Cruise liners and headed to Nanaimo. After a brief stop at Don's for some smoochy smoochy......hehehe.... we headed out on another adventure. This time to see some water falls that were hidden way within the jungles of Nanaimo. The weather wasn't all that nice but we trooped on. We hiked through the bush going up and down many hills. After going down one big ass mother of a hill and around a few corners.......VOILA....we found the falls. The only thing standing in our way to reach them was a very steep, muddy side of a mountain. Thankfully someone was smart enough to have tired a couple ropes to some trees to assist in the decline. Boy was that fun !! It took me a few minutes but I managed to make it down without falling on my ass and taking the express route. The water fall was certainly very nice....and pretty big. Don decided he would try to see how close he could get to it......he made it almost right next to it....until he slipped on the slimy rocks and fell on his butt and started to slide into the drink. Thankfully there was a littler rock protruding from the big rock that stopped him or he would have ended up taking a swim......hahaha. I of course missed it all......I was to busy documenting the side of the mountain I just billy goated down.....damn that would have been funny to see.....heeheee. After wondering around and taking some more pictures we started back up the side of the mountain. Good thing those ropes were there. It must have been quite the sight to see......me trying to haul by fat arse up the side of the mountain by rope...hehehe.....crazy shit. Anyways....we hiked our way back towards the truck.....and then it appeared.....the mother of all hills. OMG.....I almost died. Half way up I was kinda hoping Don would offer to carry me the rest of the way.......sadly no such luck. About 25mins later we finally made it back to the truck and headed to Don's for a fantastic rib dinner. And that my faithful blog reads is the end.
Who knows where this weekeneds adventures will takes us.......
Here are a few shots of the areas we checked out.

Hey Erin, You have been busy. You know that you leave yourself way open for something with all the crack you are talking about. I half excpected to see a giant plumber bent over. You are a great writer. You should do it more often. I also hear it is good for the soul. Good to hear you are helping contribute to my husband's employer. It sounds like you are doing really well. I am glad you are happy. Hope you have a great night. Love Deb
ooooh we should go check these out, yah Nanaimo is riddled with petroglyphs, go to the museum next time you're here on a booty call, they've got a bunch of them transplanted out front, they're pretty impressive!
